Great atmosphere and a very convenient location - close but still you are in the middle of the forest. Rooms are clean and cozy. The bed was really good! And the breakfast was good, especially the homemade bread!!! And don't forget to go to the sauna!!!

A spectacular and traditional Finnish hotel in the heart of Koli National Park. After our long backpacking trip in Koli National Park, Kolin Keidas was a spectacular place to stay and rest. I have only great things to say about this hotel, not a single complaint. The hotel is beautiful, a very traditional Finnish country house. Our room was really spacious, nicely decorated, and the bed was super comfortable. One of the best things for us was that they are pet friendly, and we felt that our dog, Tango, was very welcomed. The location is awesome! You can get to the Nature Center, the port, and the main trails right from outside the hotel, which is very convenient. The sauna was amazing! Totally recommended to book a time and enjoy it. Also, the breakfast was delicious. The dry toilets, which are very traditional in the Finnish countryside and cottages, are the cleanest we have ever used. Finally, the people that manage the place were very nice, and the atmosphere was super friendly. I would totally come back to this hotel.

Kolin Keidas is a very different style of accommodation! Great location in the national park - it’s literally on the trails - and ten minutes walk to the main road, where there’s a couple of food places, a pub, a supermarket etc….||We stayed in the old building which has four rooms for use in summer. Two up and two down. The room was basic. One single bed and a bunk bed. A small dressing table, lamp, fan/heater and a plug socket. That’s it. Our room was up a very steep flight of stairs. This would definitely be an issue for some less mobile people. It was the only room with a window, which was great, except there was no blind or curtain, and it was midsummer! We had to cover the window as best we could with a sheet.||The kitchen in the main building was ok for making simple food, but the fridge was packed, so not a place to arrive with lots of groceries.||Breakfast was included in the rate. It was great. Perfect before a day’s hiking.||The sauna was awesome. As other people have said, it really is the stand out feature of the property. We had a 45 minute session to ourselves.||Drawbacks:|The mosquitoes, flies and other biting insects were a total pain. They really affected our enjoyment unfortunately.||Wifi is poor - it only works in the main building, so of limited use to us.||The bathroom situation isn’t good - there are two compost toilets in a separate block for everyone to use. This is ok, but that’s all there is. No bathroom or shower. There are bowls of water in the sauna for washing but it didn’t seem appropriate to be using soap in there, and this was only in the evening. Nowhere to wash in the morning. And nowhere to brush teeth. I asked the owner and she told me to use the kitchen sink. This really didn’t feel right when others were using it! ||Our stay would have been enhanced by some clearer instructions.||Because of the property’s eco credentials, there’s nowhere to wash clothes.||For more than an overnight stay, these things would definitely become a problem.||With a bit of thought and not very much work, these obstacles could be overcome then it really would be a great place to stay for more than a night. But for an overnight stay, it was fantastic!

Very nice peaceful place, perfect for hiking in Koli. The eco farm has new amenities like toilet and shower, also they have toilet and sauna outside. The location is perfect, easy to reach by car, yet distant from busy touristic places. It’s located very close to the hiking routs, so you can start from there and go on several routs. The house is very clean and the vegetarian breakfast is delicious.

Ok place to sleep one night, but I don’t really get the top rating. The “traditional 19th century cottage” means a storage building with no windows! Really, we slept in a room with no windows and a door that is approximately 135 cm high. No bathrooms, only shared outdoor toilets and a sauna you have to pay extra to use. No regular butter for bread at breakfast, only “herb butter” and tomato spread. The staff was nice, but the accommodation isn’t that great.

My bosses daughter worked here last year in the Cafe Mandala and on the little farm and so my boss recommended me that gem in koli nationalpark. |When we arrived there the sun was shining and we felt completely relaxed from one second to the other. |Marianne showed us around and then we went for short hike to the three "summits" Ukko-koli, akka-koli and paha-koli. We had a wonderful view from up there. |Back "home" we were looking forward to the delicious homemade dinner and the real finnish sauna. As there are no showers for guests, you take it in the sauna after relaxing and sweating. Strange at the beginning but very interesting and good in the end. |The breakfast the next morning was great. Fine assortment of fresh tea, freshly baked bread rolls, eggs, porridge, red berries soup, smoothie and much more. all fresh and ecological. |We are sad that we only could stay for just one night. But it was worth every second. |If you have any kind of question about the area or where to go next, Marianne and Joona were very helpful and took their time.

We really loved this place and its atmosphere. It is an ancient house and there is no running water and private bathrooms, only a bio toilet outside, but it’s comfortable and so cosy. A special mention to be done for the old style sauna close to the wood: in the night it is enlightened with candles and it’s really a magic place. Visit this place!
